UMass Dartmouth, a thriving public research university and critical engine of social mobility located on Massachusetts’ Southcoast, invites nominations and applications for the position of Dean of the College of Visual & Performing Arts (CVPA). Reporting directly to the Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, the Dean is the leader of the College, overseeing a vibrant academic enterprise that serves roughly 500 undergraduate students in 18 program areas and 25 graduate students in 11 specialization areas leading to the Master of Fine Arts degree. The College also serves roughly 60 online students each year and offers four post-baccalaureate certificate programs. The Dean leads, supports, and advocates for a talented and diverse faculty of dedicated scholars, artists and teachers, comprised of 22 tenure-line faculty and 47 full- and part-time teaching faculty in three academic departments.

The ideal candidate will hold a doctorate or terminal degree in an appropriate academic discipline, will have a distinguished academic record with qualifications and experience that warrant tenure and appointment at the rank of Professor with tenure in a CVPA department. The next Dean will bring significant administrative experience, outstanding communication skills, authenticity, self-confidence balanced with humility, integrity of the highest order, a positive solutions-based approach to problem solving, and a clear understanding of the challenges facing today's modern university.
This is a full-time position that will be performed on site in Massachusetts. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. The salary range for this role is $190,000 - $225,000 and will include a generous benefits package.
